#HealthyDebate Reags Is A Dumb Dumb And A Debbie Downer
I didn't think I would be in a fight with Reags on a Friday but here we are. Listen he's trying to throw a bunch of jabs that I have a bunch of different teams I root for ... I'm sorry I'm a power broker and like sweatsuits. I'm sorry I have been at the Pumps Party. I guess being trapped on a golf cart all hours of the day doesn't get you out in the world to experience things. Shame on him.
He's all worked up about these rivalries and how big conferences mean longer between games for teams (like Kentucky not playing A&M in forever etc) and he's got a point with that. He mentioned sports conferences are great now and this shift will hurt that and he's right. But what he didn't mention and maybe what he's not getting is that SUPER CONFERENCES ARE HERE AND THERE ARE HERE TO STAY AND THEIR AIN'T SHIT TO DO ABOUT IT.
Does it bother me that The Pac 12 is dead? Does it bother me that the ACC may lose out on UNC and Duke basketball down the road? Does it bother me that these schools who have a massive history in Pac 12, ACC or Big 12 have now relocated to different places? Of course it does. But me crying about it ain't going to do shit. Instead what I have decided to do is see the positive in this. Instead of crying, how can I find the good in this realignment, and you know what I decided. I decided that bigger conferences mean more games during championship week of college basketball.
Somewhere along the line that got lost in translation to wherever Reags lives in Ohio, or Kentucky or Siberia for that matter since he can't wrap his head around this. I thought he likes basketball. I thought he likes gambling. I guess he doesn't because in my positive vibes only world, we are now making the ACC go from 15 teams in hoops to 17, we're making the SEC go from 14 to 16 and eventually 20 I'm sure, and the Big 10 is going from 14 to 18. You know that that means? Conference tournaments just got bigger.
Now Reags The Downer spun this that championship week is about Loyola and Penn and Yale and Valpo in 1 big leagues and what he's too stupid to realize is no one is talking about moving those great games off of championship week. They will still own the night slots early in the week. What conference expansion does is make the Big 10 tournament start a day early, the SEC start a day early, and the ACC start a day early. You may be asking ...Rico what do I care if those tournaments start a day early? Well, I would say if it means the games are played during the day it means more day gambling more wall to wall basketball coverage. What Reags seemed to forget when he was trying to dunk on me was the fact that Champ Week really only gets going wall to wall on Thursday. Wednesday starts the day games, but EVERYONE is going during the day Thursday. If bigger conferences need more days for games that will mean more day games. How is that bad ? In what world does Reags think more games with do or die format, and more games to gamble on, and more games to learn a BLOB or a SLOB or an ATO (does he know any of those things?) a bad thing? I guess he just hates ball.
Seriously, stop whining about college sports it does zero and is negative for your mental health. Instead see the positive. I chose that watching the 15 vs the 18 and the 16 vs the 17 in the Big 10 on 1 tv, and the 16 vs 17 in the ACC on Day 1 is a good thing, and then quadruple headers up the wazzu the next day brings me joy so I will instead be happy about that.
PS- By looking at the ACC bracket ... the "first round" of the ACC tournament would then mean 16 teams play, meaning 8 games if no one gets a bye. Would we potentially have all 8 games in 1 day? Would we go 2 sites? This is utter chaos but guess what ... I'm all here for it. I look forward to Big Cat swearing that one gym has softer rims than the other. Shame Reags will be crying in his cheerios and not enjoying it.
PPS- These seem like really good accounts to follow if #HealthyDebate was to become a show on let's say September 7th at 4 EST and then run on Mondays at the same time ....
